~2 year old Carvin AC40 4 string fretless bass. It has a mahogany body and neck, a cedar top, and an unlined ebony finger board. Currently strung with tape wound strings and comes with a Carvin vintage tweed case in great condition.

No marks, dents or issues. I originally bought it to cover the sound of an upright, but have since started playing upright. Plays and sounds great!

Not interested in trades at this time.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'm in North San Diego County if you'd like to see the bass.

    Yes to position dots. Side-dots at the 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21, and 24 "frets".

The note is played even with the side-dot.

  10. How do you like the Cedar top? Does it look like an acoustic guitar or kind of creamy

I really like the cedar top. Since I'm local to Carvin I was able to a/b the cedar top against a few others (walnut, koa, mahogany) and at least acoustically, the cedar top seemed to vibrate a lot more. And it does look very guitarish - very similar to my Seagull cedar acoustic.

    Hi,

I'm in Santa Barbara, transitioning from upright to electric (again). Very interested in the AC40. How close does it come to the tone of an upright? (I hope at least somewhat).
Back issue makes change necessary. I'm out of town until Tuesday, up in Big Sur. You can still contact me via email if bass is available. What did you use for amplification?
    Thanks,

    Lou
