Short of getting a small flight case made for it, has anyone found a good solution to boxing up the REDDI for travel and use on the road?

It's abnormal size and shape will make these responses pretty interesting i'm hoping:)

    thoughts?

I think you just discovered why you don't see more REDDI's in live rigs ;)

I don't know why they insist on this awkward long box for it. Is there an actual reason for it? Couldn't they just build it into a rackmount or a wider and shorter box?

i think a-design has a rack kit for two or more REDDIs.. i only have one though and use it all the time.. i have it in a 2 space grundorf rack velcrod the the inside and it holds well.. i also have my dbx163x and more-me box in there...

I bet there's a Pelican case that would do the trick.

I had a REDDI and between being awkward to carry and FOH guy ignorance, I sold it.

i'm wondering the same thing--i've never seen a reddi in person, but from looking at them, it's far too tall to fit in that case

i'd agree that a camera equip. case might be found to fit it though

Hmm... I've been curious about this too. I've been schlepping the thing around in the box and, while it works - it's awkward.

"This thing doesn't send me enough gain"
"adjust it to send me more highs"

The place provides me with a GK700 that I am forced to use, with a preset EQ that I can't touch and he gets the signal from the GK DI out post-eq.

Maybe the mixer there has no EQ and no gain knob? :)

Bizarre, because the REDDI has +16dB gain, which is way more than most any other DI you'd normally see a soundman using. The idea that he wants more highs from it is equally laughable. Clearly either he has no idea what he's doing, or he just learned one thing once and can never consider anything else again. I see that all too often: "this is the one thing I know, and I will cling to it like a drowning man to a floating chunk of wood."

Pelican would be the way to go, but I don't think they make one that is exactly the right shape. Like I think you'd have to get one that was on the biggish side and just keep your cables and stuff in the extra space. It does seem like a padded bag for a very large telephoto lens would work too. I haven't been gigging in quite a while, so I haven't needed to pack my REDDI around.

I really do think A-Designs should have built it into a more practical form factor. I exchanged a few posts with Peter Montessi about it, and it was like talking to an automated phone tree machine. I'd say "it would be great if the REDDI had a +4dBu line level output" and he'd say "it has 16dB gain". I'd say "it would be great if it had a parallel balanced output for driving an onstage rig as well as the PA", and he'd say "it has an unbalanced thru jack". I'd say "I wish it was in a more convenient rackable form factor" and he'd say "There is a rack shelf you can buy which will hold four of them in a 3RU high space".

For those that haven't seen one in person, the REDDI is about the size of a 2L bottle of soda. A bit longer and not quite as wide, but you get the idea.

Damn, 14.5" long. Now I see why it's not that practical for stage use. It looks like a custom case would probably be in order here.
