I hate this. Urge Overkill (from Funkentelechy) is the perfect bandname, but it just had to be gotten to first. Ugh.

We're just a cover band for now, going to move on to originals once we're comfortable with each other. Probably going to make alternative rock of some sort.

Are you covering different bands' songs or just a single band's songs? If its just a single band's music then maybe consider naming yourself after one of their songs. For example, I once saw an Opeth cover band called "Blackwater" after the album "Blackwater Park". Sometimes that can work well with originals.

You can have "Twisted Slinkys" instead.

Phat Bastard... Jorge Schroeder's band. What a great band name - nobody will forget it. Wish I had thought of it.

Mess around with the initials of he band members, first names, last names, or a combination of the two. Hopefully you have people in your band with names starting with both vowels and consonants.
You can usually come up with an acronym, or a word or two ( even it spelled phonetically) that is agreeable, or has the "badass", or "Funky", or whatever vibe you're looking for in a band name.

Personally, I've always like "Gut Bucket" as a band name, but was never able to convince the other band members of it's "colorful" mind's image. So I always ended up in bands with names like "The Group", "Sponz", "Platypus", "Roosevelt Garage", and other such mundane handles.

Anyway, best of luck with finding a name that suits you and the band.

I've always been partial to "Jaxstarke and the Jaxstarke Band featuring Jaxstarke". Other band members hate it. I secretly hate them. :smug:

Overkill, speed metsl band from LA
The Urge, alternative rock from St Louis

Band names are like passwords, you can't choose one that can be found in a dictionary.

Maybe UrghKill or something like that...
