I'm sorry for my ignorance but I haven't quite understood what do the presence and contour knobs do.

I have a G-K RB 700 RB-II. Great amp, but I don't know what do those two knob do with my sound. Can someone please explain to me what are they used for.

The Contour knob takes out the mids and the Presence adds highs.

Think of the Presence as a "high treble" knob. Adds some sparkle, like the presence control on guitar amps. And yeah, Contour is a mid-scoop. Leaving that one off (all the way to the left) would be "no effect". The further you turn it right, the more midrange gets scooped out of the sound, like a "smiley face" setting on a graphic eq.
