I was just reading through the discussion of why cover bands play the same songs and figured it would be cool to post our song lists to see what is common or unusual. Maybe critique and get feedback from others. Sorry if this has been done but I'd like to see the results. Here is our song list with a little commentary on some songs (sorry for the poor copy/paste formatting):

Barenaked Ladies The Old Apartment Everyone in our area does this

    Collective Soul Heavy

    Foo Fighters Everlong

    Foreigner Hot Blooded

    Foreigner Dirty White Boy

    Hum Stars

    Jet Cold Hard Bitch

Jet Are you Gonna Be My Girl? This usually goes over really well and I wouldn't say it is a standard

    Judas Priest Living After Midnight

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Blue on Black

Meat Puppets Backwater Don't know many who play this song

Neil Young Keep on Rockin' in the Free World Everyone in the world does this, we play it a bit harder

Seven Mary Three Cumbersome Another everyone in our area seems to do

    Sponge Plowed

    Sublime What I Got

The Darkness I Believe in a Thing Called Love We are the only band around that does this and it is our defining song

    Toadies Possum Kingdom

    Tom Petty Need to Know

ZZ Top Tush Everyone does this

ZZ Top Jesus Just Left Chicago

ZZ Top Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers

    AC/DC Whole Lotta Rosie

Bryan Adams Summer of 69 No idea why we added this as it doesn't fit our normal set and everyone does it

Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe The Hendrix stuff usually gets good reviews

    Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Chile

Beastie Boys Fight for Your Right

    Creed My Own Prison

    Creed What's This Life For

I should also say that we are jus tstarting out and adding to this list and finishing up work on some of the songs. We mostly play benefits and fundraisers now and are building a pretty decent name for when we get a whole night's set together and start really gigging by this winter.

Did some of these with my old band- actually enjoyed playing Cumbersome- I would kick on my OD pedal for that song, and just kill it- my guitard didn't like that but he was plenty scared of my OD pedal.Always wanted to do that Toadies song- time shifts in it are a little tough to get right though.

We've only played the Toadies song out once and limped through it but the crowd was pretty excited still. We got quite a few "that is one of my favorite songs" comments after the gig. It's getting much better in practice so hopefully it becomes one of our staples.

I've played about 95% of your list at one time or another. Looks like you have a good start and a good ear for what works. Backwater was a bar favorite when I was young. ;)

Great list. I haven't seen too many bands ( other than RHCP) covering If You Want Me To stay. Sly was bad ass. Lots of great tunes on this list.

I've posted ours here before and don't feel like typing for an hour, but here is a few that we've added in the last couple weeks.

    Love Me Dead- Ludo
    The Clincher- Chevelle
    Click, Click, Boom- Saliva
Down Rodeo- RATM ( this is the 9th RATM song we are now covering)
Rope- Foo Fighters ( haven't got this one down totally just yet)

We're working on a few others too, which escape me at the moment.

I am glad I quite my last band over setlist differences (and other things) of opinion after seeing your guys lists- because everyone of these is much cooler to me!! (My folks thought we couldn't do any older songs, so Beatles was out, Stones, etc...) Nice, there is hope for me finding a band which plays a cool mix of stuff after all.

Here's ours for a typical 3 set night, we know more music than this and regularly trade songs in and out of the setlist (especially the first two sets) and the songs are arranged in such a way to make folks want to dance. We play mostly '80s stuff ( with a few classics thrown in ) that makes women want to dance - the guys invariably drink more and chase them around the dance floor........

Very nice. Thanks for posting everyone. Hopefully I will have some time to comment individually today but definitely some interesting stuff. I guess "Be My Girl" is becoming moreo f a standard but in our area I am not aware of anyone else who does it (although our immediate area is fairly small and have to drive 45 minutes either way to hit a city).

How does Slither go over? We're working on that now and it seems to be one of those "new standard" songs as I see it in a lot of set lists. I like the mix. As someone said, curious if you have a female singer. A lot of these songs would be very interesting with a male frontman. Looks like a very solid set all around with the "standards" and some lesser played songs. Sets are broken up nicely. I'd go see it!

One of the original songs one of our guitarists wanted to do was the Ludo tune. We got away from it and haven't really brought it up again. How does that go over? I was always wondering how that would go over.
