Me and a friend are currently in the process of saving us a shitton of money, we're building custom hardshell cases for our and our band's instruments, does anyone around here build the cases for the instruments you build? And, does anyone have the dimensions for an Ibanez GSR200 (lenght, width and thickness)?

    Hi.

    My approach:

    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f30/making-custom-case-epi-ltd-explorer-597684/

Not to rain on Your parade, but with a few decades of experience about everything DIY, unless you two are pro casemakers, or take shortcuts on the materials or the construction methods or steal the materials, the money saved will be neglible.
Of course, if an over the counter case is not available, there may be slight chance of saving some money.
Unless You calculate more than a ~$5/h for your time ;).

    It's fun as hell though.

    Regards
    Sam

When you buy a case from a store, you're benefiting from economies of scale. You do not get the same purchase price on the required materials as a factory cranking out thousands. Just a thought to keep in mind.
