Hey all, I am going to be in the Dallas / Fort Worth / Denton (wherever else is close to Dallas) area for the weekend of March 21, 22, 23, and was wondering if you guys could recommend some good jazz bars to check out. I have searched, but have actually found that a lot of the venues don't seem to update their calendars very regularly. Any suggestions on good music spots in the area? Doesn't necessarily have to be jazz.

The Free Man Cafe on Commerce in Deep Ellum (just East of downtown) has Jazz, Blues, and Americana. Two bands a night (7:00p-10:00p, and 10:00p-2:00a) and three on Sunday including Jazz from 2:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon. And very good Cajun food as well.

You should definitely check out Red Young at Scat jazz lounge on the 22nd.

+1 to Scat in general. It's a great club and they get good local talent in there. It's in downtown Fort Worth, right off a re-built open space that is really nice.
