Hi I bought a bass online kind of impulsively because I think is a good deal, the selles has nice reputation but he specializes in guitars. He says that this bass is a Fender 1962 Relic Jazz Bass, Rd 1982. The pictures were really bad but I didnt want to wait for him to take new ones. Is the specs of the seller correct? I leave you with the ad from wich I bought (the price is in mexican pesos and the ad is in spanish)

If my calculation is correct that is about $825 in US dollars. If it is a '82 that's a steal. Everything looks correct on it but I can't read the serial #. Do you know it? at least the first 3 or 4 digits would help identify the year.

Should be dated in the neck pocket, both the body and the neck.

The best I could do was highlight the third photo for zoom and squint my eyes to see if I can read anything but this would be my first reissue and I wouldnt be able to interpretate anything in the serial numbers anyway

You will need to take the neck off when you get it. The date will be written in pencil on the end of the neck, and in the neck pocket on the body.

Nice looking bass! It looks pretty much exactly like my '82 reissue without the 32 years of wear.

btw, if it is a '82 it's worth about 3 times what you paid for it.

Es un precio muy bueno. Usualmente estes bajos del año 1982 vale mucho mas.

Busca en google "fender fullerton reissue jazz bass" encontrarás mucho información en talkbass y otros sitios del web.

Yes, however, unless someone put a new guard on, that doesn't look like a '82 to me. It may just be the lighting, but it looks too dark, like the newer ones, whereas the Fullertons had a very red pepperoni tort like this:

However, even if it ISN'T a Fullerton, it's still a pretty good price on, IMO, one of the best basses Fender makes!

I thought the same thing about the pickguard. Whatever the year of manufacture, a US made AVS RI Jazz bass is easily worth the price paid.

Doesn't work for AVS RI instruments. If the bass was made in 1982, the serial number on the neckplate should begin V00-followed by 4 digits or V0-followed by 5 digits.

What's with the line between the brige and the bridge pickup? I thought it was some discoloration of the one I bought. Its a characteristic of the reissue line?
