Dean John Entwistle bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by metallicafan18, Dec 30, 2010.

  1. I just got an email from Dean Guitars about Winter NAMM that they will be making a John Entwistle Hybrid bass for 2011. I can't wait to see what this is. Anyone know anything about it already?:hyper:

  2. ohhh sounds interesting.

could be an 8 string or a exporer type (exploiter) i know they wont be to use the buzzard shape or name since warwick won those rights in a court case.

    ...I'm sorry, I think I almost fainted.

  6. I have friends heading down to NAMM. Have to make sure they scope it out for me!!!

  7. I'll be going to Winter NAMM this year, so I know where I am going to be!! I'll bring back pics. Maybe the bass if I can.

I was just wondering about an Entwistle sig bass the other day to. Crossing my fingers Dean can make something that of it that doesn't make me raise an eyebrow in consternation.

I'll be waiting to see. Very interested.

  12. I'm trying to figure out how they were able to make a sig bass for him. Did he ever play Dean basses?

There is probably some legal entity managing his "estate" which includes such intangibles as his "legacy", which can sell his memory in whatever way they deem appropriate. See also: Jaco Pastorius (IMO).

Just a guess, though. Possibly/probably incorrect.

  14. I find it strange when *sig* models of anything are released posthumously.

Though (by my previous post) I love the idea...It still baffles me.

The John Entwistle signature model would have either been his Alembic Spyder bass or Frankenstein. It's kind of hard to tailor a bass to someone who's...You know, dead.

  16. ...especially by a company John had no known (AFAIK) affiliation with...:meh:

Maybe a production slab p bass!? Still I would expect the slab from Fender, not Dean.

  18. Being from Dean, I would assume it'd be an Explorer body.

Within the last two years, every single Dean bass I have played right out of the factory is set up to perfection. I am blown away with their QC. Even on their cheap models, I have played some that play smoother than my Rickenbacker. It is very cool!

I played a Hillsboro bass that seriously cut my hand up from the fret ends.
