OK, JMJ. I trust your opinion on this more than most since you own a variety of great instruments that I've heard on many recordings I like. I found a Dearmond Starfire for sale. I understand they're Korean made from the late 90s, not quite as fancy, etc... Cool. Whatever. It's black with bindings and could be made on Jupiter for all I care. It is pretty, made of wood, and hollow. My question is how do the Dearmond pickups compare to the Guild branded instruments? I'm excited about the Dearmond thing because I just don't have the cash to go for a vintage or reissue Guild, and I'm OK with the idea of lovingly aging wood with my body, :^) but the pickups concern me. Hopefully they're the same-ish. Worst comes to worst, buy it and get some Lakland Dark Stars or something?
