Yes, it's a club for owners of the Oscar Schmidt OB-20, Delta King.
Named for BB King probably, because it resembles his Lucile.
As soon as I saw this bass, I new it was for me.:hyper:
It's a Gibson inspired bass from top to bottom, (very low bottom too).
It gives a deep humbucker sound, the pickup right at the neck helps that.
If you're a Blues bassist you'll dig this one. The body is gorgeous and it's really a solid body, but the hollow wings do give a little sound when you're playing unpluged. It sold for about $300. back in 2006.
You won't want to bust this over some looser's head, (grab the nearest Fender for that). I only wish they made a sunburst version.
You Delta Kings better join into this club!;)

I have a blue one and absolutely love it! Love the short scale and big body. The sound is awesome and the action is quick. I play mostly Chicago style Blues and Blues/Rock. This axe is perfect for that style. If I had to sell all my basses except one, this is the one I'd keep.

But this bass has such amazing lows, it's not an issue. I also have a Taurus T25 Neck thru and the sound isn't much different.

Hey guys! I've had this bass, in black, for years.. and I love it dearly. I have some questions if you guys don't mind..

    1. How can I join this 'owners club' =) ..I'm glad there is one lol.

    2. I'm having the darnest time trying to find a hard case for my OB-20, preferably the guitar-shaped ones and NOT the rectangular ones. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks guys, hope to talk to ya more in the future ;)

I can't believe it took so for a response, I gave up. :rollno:

deltaheavy777, you're in! Just have to post!
Best of luck finding a case, maybe Ibanez makes a case that will fit, they used to build a similar bass, so did Samick, and Epiphone makes the Jack Casady.

Bluesman32092, have you put a yardstick on your bass? I think they're all 34", that's standard long scale for electric bass.
I was one . from buying the blue, NICE.

I still got mine, still number 1, and I've tried a many others, but this is the keeper! Never gonna mod it either.
I've had fender 9120 nylon strings on it since right away, I tried nickle wound but went right back to nylon.

I've tried round wound on this bass, but I've settled on Fender Nylon Tape Wound 9120s.
Dark, loud, and bassy, nice string snap, no ring at all.
Because this bass I've dedicated to the old school blues, jazz, R&B, and Motown sound.

On my other bass' (all Peavey) I've gone super light round wound, 35-95, D'Addario EXL 180 Nickel wound.
Plenty of bright ring, and overtones.
Light gauge bends so easy, and they're easy on the finger tips too, very cool!

I only do a search for them now and then, but I have not seen one of these come up on Ebay in years.

Do a Google search for "Rondo Music"....they're carring a semi-hollowbody bass now, and have several affordable cases for sale, including a guitar-shaped one. You'll have to measure yours and check it out against their dimensions.

    Good luck!

BTW, I just pulled the trigger on a Delta King OB20 they had just posted at GC as a new arrival. A black one with new flats on it for $119.95! I'm still shaking my head over that one. I hope it still seems like a good deal after the delivery truck shows up!

    I'll post pics then.

    Do we get numbers?

You only deserve a number when you post a picture of your bass. I thinks that's genuine proof you own one.
Next guy to post a pic of his OB-20 earns #3.

Just in case it means something someday, post your serial number too.

That's cool. I couldn't figure out how to post the pic from the GC website. It was a lousy shot anyway. I'll post pics of mine next week when it arrives.

I wrote Oscar Schmidt to find out about cases for the bass, and also how to date them, and they wrote me back almost immediately! Unfortunately, they never made a case for these basses!

As far as dating the instrument, they wrote back "the first two digits of the serial number usually relate the year of manufacture for you". If yours is "S1", I don't know if that means 2001, 1991 or what?

Doh! That's just a postage stamp.
I got mine back in 2006, they were just being discontinued, and were available everywhere.
Greg Bennett-Samick came out with a very nice semi-hollow, but that was brief, like for 2 years. I wanted to try one of those, but they disappeared real quick.

The Epiphone Jack Casady bass is the same size, but with a shorter lower horn. You can use that info as a search tool for a case.
