I recently had the strings off my czech round back, 41" measure, to do a lot of fingerboard work. When I put the Spirocore Weich strings back on, I was tuning up the E string, and listening. When the E string reached C, it sounded wonderful. Full and loud. It thinned out and quieted as it got up to E. This with both bow and pizz.. So… would putting a Spirocore Solo (F#) and detuning it to E be worth a try? I play both classical and jazz, but am more concerned with the pizz..

    Thanks,

    Steven

Of the solo strings, I think spiro solos are most successful at being detuned (and back and forth). One of my students has this setup on his one bass so that he can study our solo rep in solo tuning, then detune for orchestra and jazz.
