DiMarzio DP126 PJ (P+J) vs. EMG-Hz PJ - Any opinions??

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by bassphreak, Feb 7, 2014.

  1. I've got an old Fender Frank Bello MIM Jazz with a PJ setup. I had swapped out the stock pups for EMG-Hz a while back and have generally been pretty happy with the sound. I picked up a set of DiMarzio's a recently for another project but sold the bass. I'm thinking of swapping out the Hz's for the Dimarzios. The wiring is easy - the Bello is just V-V. It's all passive, no preamp. Nice and simple, just the way I like it.

I'll likely just install when I have some downtime, but wanted to know if anyone has any experience with direct comparisons with the Hz and DiMarzios? My only experience with DiMarzio's were in the Ibanez Roadstars and my old Fender P bass.

IMO the Hz's are good. Output is low (they are passive). They are scooped so don't seem to have the upper mid punch - which is where the DiMarzio's seems to focus.

    Thanks.
