Another installment of my "Do You Own [insert album]"? series

Aja. Released in 1977. Steely Dan's sixth album. Not so much an album by a "band" but by a star studded cast of some of the greatest studio musicians ever assembled. Production wise, about as good an album as is humanly possible. The one that spawned the radio classics Josie and Deacon Blues.

I have it. I love it. I even named my favorite bass after it...If I had another daughter, I'd seriously consider naming her Aja. Chuck Rainey's work on the album is probably the biggest influence on my playing. As a bass player, if you don't own this album, you should run out and get it!

    EDIT: Here's Aja

Not only do I own it on various media formats, I also still have an unopened, sealed copy of it on Vinyl.

Anyone who doesn't have it should turn in their bass right now.

Yep, but I don't care for it very much. If I'm going to listen to Steely Dan, I far prefer their first three albums.

Same here, but that's true of a great many rock bands I can think of.

0-for however many we're up to by now.

I have all of their albums, love Aja but for some reason Pretzel Logic is my favorite.

I saw them on their first reunion tour back in 96 and got to go back stage (met Donald) because my friend runs the stage union in Cinci.

Actually, this first reunion tour was in 93'. I opened for them at the Glen Helen Pavilion show...kind of. :ninja:

It was with a community college jazz band that set up between the bathrooms and played for the people waiting for the lawn area to open. :p
