If I ever work for a drug cartel or terrorist organization, I'm not going to be the guard who stands on the lookout tower outside the compound. That guy always gets shot first. Why do they even give him a gun? He never gets to fire it. He gets a bullet in the head from a silenced sniper rifle, or maybe a crossbow bolt in the chest.
  2. That job is about the same as being the extra that beams down with capt. Kirk. No room for advancement.
  3. Or the guy in the lookout tower gets a rocket launcher blast and flies out.

My favorite unnoticed scene in the most recent Star Trek movie was when Kirk fired Scotty then looks at Chekov and says:

Kirk: "You're the new chief engineer. Go put on a red shirt."

Chekov just stares blankly, knowing the survival rate is cut in half when wearing red.

Back in the 70's, I was in officer training with the militia in an infantry unit. I learned that my life expectancy, as a platoon commander in combat, was 6 minutes. Enlightening.

In all my rock and roll action/adventure movies, it's the bass player who gets it first.

    I don't know why.

I would add bank security guard. His death usually indicates the beginning of a violent bank heist.

    Except Spinal Tap. ;)

That's the first thing I thought of too. It's always the guy in the red shirt!
