Hey, do any of you guys know what strings Duff used to record the "Appetite for destruction" album?
I'm sure he used Rotosounds. You can pretty much copy his tone with a Fender with both P/J pups, Roto's, and settibg your mids full on.
His signature bass is fantastic to play.
Thanks for that mate, I've got a P-Bass so I'm have way there
Don't forget a chorus pedal turned up to '10'!
Not sure about the album... But I have seen pictures of him on tour for appetite with Rotosound Nexus black coated with the multi colored silks...
Backe then, those strings were called "Spacers". Black anodized stainless steel roundwounds with multicolored silk wraps. I bought six sets and although they sounded great, the anodized black would wear off pretty quickly. Then they changed to "Silver Spacer"; nickelplated steel roundwounds with multicolored silks. Then they were discontinued.
So Rotosound with a G&K amp, is my best bet
And make it a GK 800RB too.
Currently they have a black polymer coating and use a nickel iron alloy..
On my way to the shop right now.
Yes the flangy crispy tone comes from the chorus as much as from the strings.
Despite having a signature bass, I wonder how many times he uses his beloved Aerodyne Jass instead?
To get what?
If going for the Rotosound Nexus let me know if they have. I would be surprised.
Strings on the P-Bass and yes they're nexus strings wow! Yeah the boys up the road know what there doing.
Awesome! Glad you were able to get a set!!!
