Dynamic range of amp fingers pa

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Downunderwonder, Jan 4, 2014.

  1. If you rely on your amp's overdrive by varying touch, how many dB do you get between light and clean to trying to tear off your fingertips?

Does your soundguy have a problem with setting your maximum gain to cope and leaving it there?

Note I'm referring strictly to dynamics generated by touch, not slap, and no compression added.

Overdrive adds compression, so that covers it. I have a pretty broad dynamic range in my set, controlled from bass and fingers, along with some drive pedals (those are more for density though). If I'm going through PA, set the sound stuff to the loudest noise, the quiet bits are quiet because I want them to be.
