    I saw this and was surprised how populated the east half of the US compared to the west half.

    No idea what all those lights in central western Australia are though. They must be mining operations or something, because nobody lives there.

    What's that lit up place way way up at the top of Alaska?

    That's Prudhoe Bay, oil gets drilled for there, it's the northern end of the Alaska Pipeline.
