Earthquaker Pitch Bay Harmonizer

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by shoesandbasses, Mar 8, 2014.

  1. Just got the EQD Pitch Bay polyphonic harmonized. I've been working with it for a little while and will post a video demo of it (since the only bass demo is Juan Alderete from Pedals and Effects, props to my man!).

Anyone else have one and found some cool settings?

Right now I'm loving the simple octave down with the gain turned up halfway. It's a gritty octaver.

But then when you set the note up to 4th or 5th, and dial it in slowly, you get this unbelievable growling symphony. I love this pedal, and the octave side of it will come in handy the most.

  2. I saw a lot of people complaining of the note warbling, but the demos I saw, it didn't seem like a problem. Just gives it a little more character. I bet you can make some ugly noises setting the intervals randomly. Like a 3rd down and a 7th up or some nonsense. I could see this being useful in alot of different music.

Can you post some clips as a simple "transposer"? I.e., dry dialed out, pitch up dialed out, dirt at zero, pitch down to -3 or something like that? Compared to your clean especially would be great. Thanks!

  5. Hell yeah man it definitely can sound dissonant and I can make augmented chords with it.

The tracking isn't 100% accurate. But it's also not that bad. Even playing a bunch of notes in a row. It also does chords (polyphonic).

  6. I'm on it either this afternoon or tomorrow morning, check back with me.

  9. So as it turns out the Pitch Bay's "root" is not very clean. But it doesn't bother me, as I like the way it sounds.

So if I read and heard correctly, none of those had the root dialed completely out?

  11. Eek - you mean just the note above and below without the root involved?

I forgot to do that one! I'll do another tomorrow if you'd like.

I'm actually curious with just one or the other---like to use it to artificially downtune a bass. Root dialed out, pitch up dialed out, pitch down set between one and several half-steps flat...

  13. Oh, well I guess no I didn't do that but it certainly does do it. It's got a funky tone to it but it works well for that and as you can hear when I play a bunch of fast notes it doesn't miss any of them.
