Its emg jx with an Aggie opb 1. Two band sounds good but when I try and move the blend all the way to the front or the rear there is a massive gain/boost that happens any thoughts?

You may have the pickups out of phase. Swap the wires around for one of the pickups, see if that makes a difference.

Ok. Will try that In a couple of hours. I hope it works.

With this much gain it minds well be a mute switch...

you can't really wire EMGs out of phase (without a special accessory); you're actually wiring their preamp outputs, and ground is ground in that case.

my guess is the blend pot is mirror-imaged, to where the middle setting is turning both pickups down instead of up.

Interesting...what's the value of the blend? You know, installed a set of EMG's JAX and it worked fine with a 500K volume pot (on/off pickup switches, no blend). So, I'm not really sure how these new EMG's innards are different from originals as I thought they required 25K pots. BTW, I also am using a Aguilar (OBP3) and it is pretty loud, but in a good way.

the EMGs will work fine with a 500k volume; the pot just won't have any kind of sweep, acting like an on-off switch instead.

Update: switched the wiring and no difference. The pot is 500k .could that be the culprit??

Tried reversing how the pick-up were wired up (changed the positive to negative on the bridge pick-up) but it made no difference.

I'm interested to know if the 500k pot is the issue. It works with my setup (JAX), but I'm not using a blend.

Is that an active EMG? if so, the blend pot should be a 50kB or 25KB dual gang pot. (the B means linear)

The vol pot should be a 50KA or a 25KA single gang pot. (The A means log or audio taper).

regular 250K and 500K pots from a passive guitar won't really work.
