    Hello all,
It's been a while since I have made or participated in a post but right now is a perfect time to. As I type this UPS is heading my way up here to Toledo to bring me my new bass! That makes number five! I found this mint condition ESP LTD Surveyor 4 at a Guitar Center in California for $249.99 dollars. It is black, has a white bound, rosewood fingerboard with white pearloid block inlays. The EMG's and electronics look like they are going to be a lot of fun. I'm excited and will try to post a photo of it so long as I can remember to do so. I know that ESP makes great quality guitars and basses for the best possible price. My only nit pick about the bass is that I wish it had a maple board. No big deal.

May be the same one I saw. I check Guitar Center's used basses all the time. I'm an ESP fan, and love the active P4 (soapbar housing)and humbucker combo. After you receive it, let us know. That's a heck of a deal, just buying those pups would cost almost that much! Congrats!

    Mike,

Congrats on the Surveyor-4! I've got one too and it's an amazing bass for pretty much any type of music you want to play, with the P (P35 casing) and MM/J pickups. These have a very HOT output!!!!

I really like the wheel adjustment for the truss rod, I wish all basses had this. Also, the Wilkinson bridge matches a standard Fender 5-string bridge if you choose to replace it at any time.

FYI, Ltd has discontinued this model so there won't be any more, at least for some time.

So, wishing you and the bass a very safe trip and a long time together!

    Bob

I do have to say that I think ESP gets an unfair stereotype as being only for metal because of some of the radical body styles. I feel that ESP is a maker of guitars and basses that fit any genre. I am disappointed however at the discontinuation of Surveyor bass. I mean talk about an all around bass! I do plan on buying another one in the fall. On another note, I am a bit saddened to discover that the B and D series basses no longer feature EMG pickups. Enough chasing rabbits, back to the new Surveyor! It will be here tomorrow afternoon and I am very much looking forward to it. I will let everyone know how it is and maybe even put up a picture or two.

I do this everyday or at least every other day. My wife refers to it as my "porn". I could seriously kill three hours or more checking out GC's used basses and amplifiers. Sometimes you get lucky and get to take a stroll down memory lane or find a super sweet deal like my new Surveyor for $249.99!

Picked up my 3 rd Vintage 4 ( CAR-already had black and 'burst-vintage white next-will complete the set.)

Like you , I watch the used site daily. They had 2 CARs and a VW @ 3 locations , all $999. Dropped mine to $699 . Called the store . Is that a Babitcz bridge ? Uh ? Yeah . Are those EMG pickups ? Yeah , the X model. That looks like a concentric tone knob. Yeah and the middle one has a stop too. Dunlop flush stap locks ? Some kind ?

Long story, great deal, bought the whole thing for a little more than the mods (which I dig ) would have cost .

Well brothers and sisters of the low end, I have had my new ESP LTD Surveyor 4 for about half a day or so. I am very impressed. The bass exceeded my expectations 150%. I needed a good cleaning, fresh set of strings, and a set up. I chose Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkys. Ernie Ball are my main strings. The set up took me about twenty-five minutes. The EMG's both with and without the pre-amp are hot and aggressive. It has a tone that is unlike any of my other four basses. I'm really happy with it. So there's my two cents as I promised. Dig some of the photos. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1396408339.958125.jpg ImageUploadedByTalkBass1396408358.090624.jpg ImageUploadedByTalkBass1396408375.373946.jpg

The last photo is from Guitar Center's original used listing for the bass. Sorry for the poor quality.
