I have an Alembic Excel 5-string that I am looking to trade for a 4-string bass. The perfect trade would be another Alembic because I love the articulate and punchy tone of these basses but I would look at other high end 4-string basses also.

The bass is a 1998 model and it's in great shape. The only reason I am looking for a possible trade is because the 5-string neck is killing the arthritis in my left hand.

    Thanks for looking!

Definitely interested in other brands. Needs to be a 4-string though.

It is a 34 inch scale, and I would say it's somewhere around 10 pounds. I can try and get a "bathroom scale" weight when I get home later today.

I just bought a twin to this bass and the thing plays great. Mine's a 2000 and the neck is straight with action that is almost too low. Great bottom end, too. Got to love Alembic electronics. I don't know about the seller's bass, but mine weighs a hair over 10 pounds on the bathroom scale, and the shape balances very well.

    Good luck with the trade!

Thanks AlembicBob. You are right...it is 10.2 pounds according to the bathroom scale.

Some other measurements that were asked via PM:

Comes with a Roadrunner polyfoam case (photo attached).

Nut width is 1 and 7/8 inches

String spacing is 3/4 inch. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1389396424.106521.jpg

What are the Controls? Is there a Q-Filter, or Vol/Treble/Bass?

Rather simple controls - volume with bass and treble (cut and boost). Takes 1 9v battery.
