"Think For Yourself" - Beatles - off Rubber Soul - late '65

This may be the first ever use of fuzz on bass ever recorded - maybe..

    Marty Robbins - Don't Worry (1961) - features a Fuzz Bass Solo.

There may be an earlier example.

No effect. Dan just dimes whatever amp he's using.

If you can ever find a copy of "What is True What is False" (the vinyl LP from which this some comes), it's a timeless monument to the art of bass fuzz. Look no further. Dan has the word FUZZ tattooed on his wrist.

Pretty much anything off of Ministry's "Filth Pig" and "Dark Side of the Spoon" albums. Barker is pretty much responsible for the obsession with HEAVY fuzzes, but I've always listened to bassists who use varying degrees of dirt (Squire, Lee, Entwistle, Pinnick, etc.)

Toward the end of 'Locomotive Breath' by Jethro Tull. Almost sounds like a ripped speaker.

Gratitude by the Beastie Boys. I still can't believe I don't own some kind of Super Fuzz yet.

That's the only Ministry song I've never found live clips of, and it's driving me crazy! I think they've only played it twice ever. I LOVE that song, it's just so...beautifully odd!
