I just bought the Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass with Active and Passive electronics and I am noticing that in passive mode, there doesn`t seem to be much difference in tone, no matter what I do. There is a diff in Active mode. How can I check if there is a problem.

Passive mod usual won't allow you to do much other than blend unless you have the model with the passive/active switch.

We need more info about your instrument. What year?

Current production MIA Jazz Deluxe come with the new preamp and an active/passive toggle. This is a six pot setup with separate passive tone and active 3 band eq in this layout:

    [ volume ]
    [ blend ]
    [ active treb ] / [ active bass ]
    (active/passive toggle)
    [ active mid ] / [ passive tone ]

The only tone control that will affect your tone in passive mode is the passive tone pot. Are you saying that the passive tone pot has no effect on your tone when in passive mode?
