I'm not a Jazz Bass guy, and I don't play 4-stringers any more, so up for sale in my Fender Custom Shop '64 Jazz Bass NOS. That said, this bass really sounds like a good old pre-CBS Fender. The alder body is unusually resonant to my ears.

The bass was brand new in 2008. I bought in 2010 and it's never left my house. Here are the specs from Fender's website:

Model Name ‘64 Jazz Bass® NOS
    Model Number 015-1300-(800)
    Colors (800) 3-Color Sunburst,
    (Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish)
    Body Select Alder
    Neck Maple, "C" Shape,
    (Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish)
Fingerboard Round Laminate Rosewood, 7.25” Radius (184 mm)
No. of Frets 20 Vintage Style Frets
Pickups 2 Vintage Jazz Bass Single-Coil Pickups
    Controls Volume 1. (Neck Pickup),
    Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup),
    Master Tone
    Bridge American Vintage Jazz Bass
Machine Heads Vintage Style Reverse Machine Heads
    Hardware Nickel/Chrome
    Pickguard 4-Ply Tortoise Shell
    Scale Length 34” (864 mm)
    Width at Nut 1.50” (38mm)
Unique Features Built as if Bought New in its Respective Year and Brought Forward in Time.[/I]

The bass is in excellent condition. I can only find 2 marks on her...there is a nearly-invisible thin line in the lacquer where the edges of the bridge cover pressed into the finish. I couldn't get it to show up in photos, and if the bridge cover was left on the bass it would be impossible to see. There is also a small dent in the lacquer visible in the last photo, to the left of and below the ball end of the "E" string. I never knew it was there until I gave the bass the once-over before posting her for sale.

The bass comes with the original hardshell case and all of the standard case candy.

I'm asking $2,300 plus shipping. No trades, please.

    9.7 lbs.

Funny, being an Alembic guy I never think about how much my basses weigh, because I would cry if I knew :)

I have one of these, as well all original '66 and '69 jazz basses. I think the 64 NOS jazz is very, very close in overall tone and playability for much less $$. I just prefer a bound neck, but many don't. GLWS!
