Says "special" on the headstock, not deluxe...

Maybe a passive version of the recent FSR P special in metallic surf green (but that one had 4 knobs-stacked- and a side jack) ?

    Looks good anyway !

My brother has that bass. It's awesome! I love the look, has the Geddy neck, the pickups are a little hot but its a fun bass and a sweet color.

I love the color but am not a fan of black blocks. If it is like the other special deluxes, I have 2 and the pickups/preamp are very hot. I set the mids all the way up and the bass and treble in the middle and I use both pickups equally and get a very good sound to start before I start playing with amp knobs.

Gotta say thats pretty close to what i'd have built custom, if i were going to go that route.

Obviously I'm talkin' about the surfgreen one, not because the solid black and tort bein' ugly (they seem to fight in the same league of recent Sterling Rays 34ca) but I sure opt for Fender over MusicMan all time:)

    Cheers,

Are there specs for it available? I didn't see any on the MF website or Fender's website.

The Fender 70's P is MIJ.
Doe any one know Is this MIJ or MIM?
    Is this a P or a J neck?

Whats the full story here. With no info on the fender site I'm inclined to believe this is an upcoming model that MF was making a page for and published it early by mistake.
    Just guessing.

    I'm seriously GASsing for this.

Yeah the sea foam pearl one is great looking. I hope it's a P neck but fear it's a J. It says they have them in stock but I wonder why Fender's site has nothing on them...

It's a Musicians Friend/Guitar Center (same owners) special limited run. You won't find that bass offered anywhere else. They will make a few hundred and that will be it.

I'd replace the tort guard for a black one and be very happy.

No that is different. The one on MF is passive and has a Badass bridge

And, btw, MIM and with a Jazz neck:crying: (just because I'd favor a Jazz body with Precision neck instead)

    Yet I'd still give it a go:bassist:

+1 on this. I don't get why Fender doesn't do more of those :scowl: I know theres the Aerodyne but thats too far out for me. Either way the black blocks on the sea foam don't mesh in my mind so I'd just swap out the neck for a P.

The aerodyne uses a jazz neck.

So how would this compare with the Fender Modern Player Jaguar Bass? Is it worth $500 more? Especially considering you could do $500 worth of upgrades to the Jaguar and probably be way ahead?

You're right, my mistake... which makes it even worse for me.
