    Year: 2000.

The rosewood fingerboard was originally fretted. The frets were removed and replaced with maple strips, then the fretboard was coated with polyurethane.

The tone knob has been modified to be a push/pull switch which changes the pick-up wiring from parallel to series (for a fatter, more P-bass tone).

(All mods were done by a professional luthier; the parallel/series switch is reversible.)

It comes with the original hard-shell case, and all the original hardware and accessories ("case candy").

There is a small paint chip on the back near the "Jaco" neck-plate ( no other damage - just the normal wear of the nitrocellulose finish.

    $1250 shipped CONUS only, PayPal.

    Ty,

I don't have any of the basses that you are looking for in trade, but I have been looking for a nice fretless, and yours seems to fit the bill! I should have money available by the end of the week (no BS .... seriously), and there is only one thing that I need to know before "pulling the trigger" .... how heavy is this bass? I know some of the "Jaco" signature Fenders were 9 lbs+, which would be a deal-breaker, due to two serious left shoulder surgeries that I have had in the last 3 years. If it is down in the 8 lb. range (or lower), I will take it, if you can wait until 6/15 for payment!

    Thanks
    Doug

    Ty,

That makes it tough for me! My two heaviest basses are in the 8.33 to 8.75 lb. range, and they can even get a bit too heavy for me, if I am playing them for more than 45 minutes. Oddly, my '62 AVRI P-Bass is the lighter of these two, at 8 lb., 5 oz., and it feels heavier than my 8 lb., 12 oz. Warrior 5-string, because the Fender Bass has far worse overall balance on the strap. I suspect, based on past experience with a "Jaco"Jazz Bass, that this one does not have the best balance in the world, with some "neck dive".... is that true?

I really want this bass, but I need to give the weight issue some thought. If I knew that I would be playing it while seated, as in some "black tie" jazz gigs that I have done in the past, the weight wouldn't be such an issue; however, if I were standing for full fretless sets, it surely would be.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
    Doug

Maybe install Hipshot Ultra-Lights and replace the metal knobs with black plastic knobs.

    Ty,

Depending on what answers I get regarding the weights of a couple of other freless Jazz basses here, I may just "bite the bullet", and try to deal with the 9 lb. weight of this bass. I will get back to you ASAP.

I have received absolutely no replies to my three PMs, nor have I gotten any shipping notifications. Have you shipped this bass? It has been more than 5 days, and I am only in the next state to you!
