I saw this Jazz advertised as a '88 Fender Japan Jazz Bass.
An unusual body IMHO. No pick guard holes. Duncans with active electronics.
Is anybody familiar with this body style?
    Thanks.

I've never seen one of those before, but the neckplate is like the P-Bass Lyte, so I believe it probably hasn't been modified with a different body or anything.

I saw something recently on E-bay local to me that was very, very similar to this, and I let it pass because I thought it was "wrong" for the price at the time but after seeing this I've been trying to find the listing again to see if that held more information but can't seem to find it.

I can't help you any more with anything about it, as it's got me wracking the brain cells, but I'm interested to what it could be as well (and wondering if I need to go and give myself a good kick up the backside).

I may have seen the same thing.

It's definitely not original (I think) those look like the "DuncanDesign" pickups from the more recent Squiers.
