I think it says 5 23 025 B ?
Wondering how old it is?
The bass is supposed to be a 69...

Wow. Very old
That would be February 1975 I think, but not sure if they were still using that date coding system then.
Is the tug bar on the treble or bass side of the strings? What is the neck plate serial number? Should be under 300000 for a '69.
The last number could be a 9, which would make it a 1969.
The 5 may be a 9. The system is the one they were using is 69... Just hard to tell
The neck plate puts it at 69. Just wanna be sure
Pot codes are a good way to date a bass. They might have still been using up the '66 pots in 1969.
Seems to look like a 9 in that fading.
5 means it's a Precision neck, B of course is the width. The 02 should mean the neck is Feb of that year.
Did you look at the pickup stamp? It would be four digits: middle two are the week, the last digit is the year.
A 69 would very likely be wearing 66 pots (huge batch).
Pots are 70, turns out to be a 70. Thanks for the help. Still going to buy it
