I picked up my first fretless bass today, a Lakland 4401, from Craigslist today. I have never so much as touched a fretless bass until I got home with it in my hands & HOLY....COW......I think I've finally found my thing!

I have been practicing playing right up against the fret on my Fender Jazz bass, to the point of getting buzz, & I guess it paid off. This bass just plays so effortlessly & sounds absolutely amazing! I'll feel a little bad for my J bass now.. :bag:

The neck is so smooth & slim & the finish is really beautiful. The action could not be lower. If you're considering fretless, but, you're scared of intonation problems, find one of these with fretlines.

    Cool.
I've only owned a fretless for a month, but I love it.
Enjoy the new bass & the fretless world.

And post some pictures when you get a chance.

Very cool. My first bass was a fretless, and that will always be my love. Unfortunately, that one had other issues, so I had to get rid of it, but I am still on the prowl for another good one.

It's always best to fret less. Fretless rules!

I'm hoping you have a great experience with it as I did today playing with other people for the first time.

I am renting an Ibanez to see if I like it. Have owned fretlesses before but never an active one. Seems ok. I love the feel of the neck, but the treble when turned up makes the higher strings sound tinny. Well atleast I am only renting it. I might see if I can find a used Jazz fretless around though
