When I was a kid I would occasionally have a bad dream where I wound up at school--naked. Embarrassing and exposed.

Lately the nightmares consist of having a bow in my hand with a metronome clicking---same feeling.

The Dream Of Public Nakedness is an almost-universal trope among humans.

What Dr. Freud would make of "having a bow in my hand with a metronome clicking," I dread to think.

What would Dr. Freud think generally of guys who insist on having the biggest instrument in the group?

Focus on the positive and make a list of your goals. These dreams will subside when you feel positive growth. Taking a step forward doesn't mean you regret the steps you already took, or the side steps you didn't.

Just Relax. One thing at a time.

We all try our best to look good naked.

Thanks. I just started with a teacher and he told me to start practicing with the bow so I did. It's a process. I don't suck as bad as I did last week.
As bad as I suck, I love it

Hopefully your teacher is doing more than just saying "practice with a bow". They should be giving you some specific work just for the bow arm AND spending some time at your lesson on physical assessment of your approach.

Yes, he is. Scales, arpeggios, and intervals from the lowest to the highest notes. Exercises from Simandl and etudes out of a Nanny book. He's very observant of my bow technique
