    hello,

for sale is my beloved 1976 Fender Jazz bass. Man, its a shame having to sell this. I originally bought it as an investment piece, but I have to sell now because money is very tight. This bass is ALL ORIGINAL, and in very pristine condition for a 76. There is no buckle rash or paint rubbed off. Just some very slight finish checking and a few dings around the body and back of neck. The bass is in perfect condition! It is one of the nicest 70s Fenders that you will ever play. The action is so money, and the frets still have a lot of life. I had my tech set it up, and put a shim in the neck pocket. Believe me, these original pickups smoke! and it sounds so incredible.

The bass weighs 9.6 pounds, which is perfect in my opinion. Really a gem of a guitar considering a lot of 70s fenders were hit or miss.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I would love to send more pics to your email. I have a ton of feedback on ebay, but am still sort of new here on TB, so not to fear!

Price is $2350 Plus shipping. US shipping only.

    thanks.

OK, the price is $2600 shipped now. Here are some pics of the only blemishes on the bass. If you want a 70s jazz, don't miss out.

A couple knicks here and there on the body, and a bit of the neck heel rubbed down. Someone used to play slap on this thing like it owes them money...

:) Speaking for myself, and likely for many, I'm gear-rich and cash-poor at the moment. Tough time of year to sell. Beautiful specimen. GLWTS!

    Just a few questions:

    What is the exact weight?

Does the truss rod work well without having to crank it and does it straighten out the neck?

What is the condition of the frets and neck? i.e. is there any buzz when neck is straight and action is low. ( I noticed the strings are very high off the fretboard at the end of the neck).

    thanks!

the exact weight is 9 pounds 6 ounces. The neck is very straight, and the truss rod works great. That picture may be a bit misleading, because the action is set very low throughout the scale length. There is a little bit of buzz in the upper register near 17th fret on the D string, and maybe a tiny bit more here and there in the very upper frets only. The rest of the neck is set up perfectly and has no buzz. thanks.

Nice Jazz! With the S8 number it would probably be in the 1978 to 1979 range in age. I've got an early '76 and it has the large TV logo and the serial number is on the neckplate. The later 1976 basses had the "76" prefix on the headstock before the serial number. I love the late 70's sunburst finishes!
