PRICE DROP: So here is my 1970 Fender P Bass in Olympic white, all original except for the pickguard, which is also from 79. This is my first time selling a vintage bass so I am trying to be thorough, in description and photos, which I appreciate when reading ads here.

The serial number is from 77-79, but the neck stamp is 79, and so are the pot and pickup codes. So I call it a ‘79.

I’ve tried to show all the pros and cons in the photos and it’s mostly pros. Excellent condition overall, with minor wear. The Olympic White has aged into that great cream color. The finish looks great. No buckle rash.
It has a few scuffs and dings as with most any bass of that age, but it’s by no means roughed up and nothing affects playability. A few hairlines in the finish, which I’ve tried to show. They are so minor so I hesitate to call them checking. Most scuffs are along the bottom, also shown. Pickguard has a tiny crack at the screw near the jack.

The neck and headstock are in pristine cosmetic condition.

Original Fender case is in great condition, inside and out. Original chrome bridge cover and thumbrest. No pickup cover. All the hardware (tuners, knobs, bridge, neckplate, screws, etc..) is original.

Just set up with new D’Addario EXL 170 by the pros at Noll Guitars in RI, who also checked the original frets. All fine, no buzz.
Neck is straight, with low action

OK, it’s on the heavy side. 11.3 lbs on UPS scale.

I’m looking for [DEL]$1650[/DEL], $1575, plus shipping. CONUS only, no trades. Prefer BOA bank deposit, bank check or money order if you have feedback but will do Paypal. PM or post any questions.

I’ve got a slew of photos, including the innards, and will post over the next day or so.

Excellent job on the description - I wish all sellers would take the time to be thorough and take decent pics when trying to sell vintage gear. It's worth the trouble. Seems like a fair asking price too.

Thanks for the bump "The Art Guy". I wondered at the price since these are all over the place depending on condition and originalness (?). I suppose the market will dictate whether is fair right now.
