Hi, I'm starting over because I had even confused myself with the original post. :D Only other difference here - FS for $999 and split ship, or trade value still $1300. I love the bass but for the time being I'm looking around but don't need sell.
    Now with soundclip!

I am interested in having a short(er) scale fretless. I've been on a wait list for Chris to make me a 33" and swap the necks, but it's getting on to a year of waiting.
I've been gigging with my Dano Longhorn and a fretless one would be so cool! With this in mind I am looking for something smaller. 34" 33" 30", I can go 4 or 5 string, it really depends on the bass. UNLINED ideally!

My Vortex is an early one according to Chris. It is excellent condition. Mahogany body in Gibson Cherry Red with all Benavente p'ups and 3 band pre. This is a warm and solid sounding fretless with the Jazz Bass signature tones. The neck profile is like his Low End jazzes.
I sent it to him with a maxed out truss rod (I got it that way) and he put in a newer, better one, trued and resurfaced the rosewood board and sanded and re shot a light nitro coat on the back. He discovered a little split where the board and neck meet by the nut which he impregnated with glue and it has been a non issue since I got it back in Spring.
So PM me with any questions you might have and tell me what you've got.

Chris was going to make me a new 33" scale replacement neck and swap with me. He was saying he would use my neck for a build he was doing for himself. This is how confident he was with his repair on it.

I'm pretty sure this is the replacement neck I had made for one of my fretted Vintage Vortex's when I went all fretless. Sold the two necks with one body and ended up eventually in the hands of Thor who had the second neck made into a brand new bass. This was when Chris had really found his rhythm and the neck was amazing, brought my bass to a whole new level. I'm sure this is an amazing instrument and for <$1K, it's beyond a steal. Chris's work is absolutely up there with the best of them...

Joe, that jives with what I was told, the body was made for this neck.
