First off, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

My New Years resolution this year is to scale back on my gear and keep only what I play on a regular basis, that being said, I’m offering up one of my Martin Keith Elfin 4’s.

For those of you who are not familiar with Martin Keith, he has been building custom guitars and basses with Joe Veillette of Veillette Guitars for more than 13 years and has his own line of custom guitars and basses. Here’s a link to his website: http://www.martinkeithguitars.com/index.shtml

This one has a beautiful figured Maple top and matching headstock, Wenge fretboard, a Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup (that’s located in the MM sweet spot), a John East MMSR 3 band preamp, and a Hipshot/Gotoh De-tuner in a bass that weighs in at a mere 6.9lbs. It’s in beautiful condition (9+/10) with only some slight scuffing above the pickup where your thumb contacts the bass, it plays fantastic and comes with Martin's standard Levy's gig bag.

    Specs:
    Poplar body
    Figured Maple top & headstock
Translucent Black Cherry finish with matching headstock
Carbon Fiber reinforced maple neck (satin finished back)
    Titanium truss rod
    Wenge fretboard
    34.5” scale
    1 ½” nut width
    24 frets
    19 mm string spacing
    Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup
John East MMSR 3 band preamp
    Gotoh tuners
    Hipshot/Gotoh D-tuner
    Hipshot B bridge
    Dunlop Straplocks
    Std. Martin Keith gig bag
    Weight: 6.9 lbs.

I purchased this brand new from Martin 9 months ago when I was waiting for my custom Elfin 4 to be built, which is now my main player. Build times for these basses are somewhere in the range of 3 to 4 months or more and have a street price of $2900+.

I’m asking [DEL]$1650[/DEL] $1500 shipped to anywhere in the CONUS, sorry no international sales, PayPal accepted. Local pickup is also available.

I would consider trades for a micro amp and cash, preferably an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 or 4 & 5 string jazz basses (+ or - cash).

    Thanks for looking!

Still playing the. 44-02 I bought from you this year. Folks, this is a great TB"er who really takes care of his basses. The Lakland I bought from him was perfect. Good luck and Happy New Year to you!

sweet bass. I own a Veillette and in that connection, I've met Martin, cool guy, although I 've never played his basses. That's a beaut, though.

Let's open this one up to trade offers other than just micro amps.

My preference would be toward jazz basses, both 4 & 5 string. I would be willing to add cash for the right bass but also I'm not opposed to trading down (plus some cash coming to me).

I've had PM's with questions regarding the balance and tone of the bass: The bass hangs perfectly and has no neck dive whatsoever. The tone leans toward the pre-Ernie Ball MM sound, it's super punchy, it's very "lively" acoustically and plays incredibly easy.

The neck profile on this bass is very similar to a Lakland 4-94 (other that this has a 1.5" nut), thin but not too thin, extremely comfortable and easy to play, IMO. What I think of as "Pre-EBMM" is very tight sounding bass tone with offsetting highs, definitely aggressive and punchy. The Wenge fretboard just adds to the punch of this bass.

Also can you tell me how noticed the 34.5 scale is in opposition to a 34 (my preference)

I have a 2010 American Jazz Bass Deluxe (3-tone sunburst, bound and blocked rosewood board) I've been debating keeping. My only addition has been a Hipshot detuner. Any interest?
