I got this bass on a trade recently and it's very nice, basically brand new. It's #158, about 10 basses earlier than the newest Valentis.

    33", 24 fret
    Mahogony body
    spalt top
    Ebony board
    '59 burst
    Nordy DCs
    Nordy 3 band
    Black hipshot hardware

    $1850 shipped conus.

Trade interests, a boutique passive 4 string J, Lakland JO or 4-94, etc.

Just a hair over 8lbs on my kitchen scale. No sound clips, although I did just get a sonic port, if I can figure out how it works I'll record some.

I'd love to hear some sound samples, especially the B string. Great looking bass!

Is the nut cut for E-C?

Tradional (full size) or modern (smaller) body? String spacing? Nut width?

Yes, but I have both. Bass came with a B-G nut and I had a luthier friend of mine cut me a new E-C nut because I didn't like the string rattle.

The upper horn is is same as a full size 4 String J, but the lower horn is cut away significantly to accomodate access to the full 24 frets. 17mm spacing, 1.75 in nut.

What was rattling? The E-C set on the B-G nut?

My 24 fret basses are modeled after my downsized J bodies with a deeper treble cutaway and redesigned neck pocket.

To clarify, I did not like the rattle of the C string in the G string groove in the nut. I would like to take the money from this and put it towards a new Valenti order, but there are some trades I'd be into. Thanks.

Yup, would love to have another custom built (for me) one for sure. I might also be tempted by a good P bass with a J neck of the same caliber as this bass.

Had a couple questions about the Low B on this bass. It sounded great when I got it, but I am not a Low B kinda guy, so I removed it and strung the bass E-C. Now, this can easily be changed back to B-G, and was indeed built for that application.

That is a Bluesman Vintage custom El Dorado bass that I had Built for me. It's awesome, I have a surf green one coming in the next few weeks to match...
