2012 New Standard La Scala - Fully Carved. ***Bass is now with me in New York City and available for auditioning here in the city (Upper West Side)***

This is what I paid for it:
    ----
Price breakdown: Bass - $10,000. Additions: Full Circle $250; Sloane tuners $500; Mooradian DeLuxe blue cover $395; carbon fiber endpin $50; crate $100; freight.

    Total: $11,680

I also paid over $1500 in tax to get it across the border, so my total in this bass is about $13K.
    -----

    Specs:

    String Length 41 1/2" / 105.5 cm.
    Body Length 44" / 111.8 cm.
    Upper Bout 19 1/4" / 49 cm.
    Lower Bout 25 5/8" / 65 cm.

The bass is in pretty much the same condition as I received it, no cracks or repairs. The playability is effortless, it responds very quickly. I can put Spiro solos, weich, or mediums on the bass for you.

Asking $9,000. We can discuss shipping/other arrangements, I do have the original crate but it would be up to you to find a way to insure it.

That last picture is an Edward Weston nude.

Nice bass, but the last I heard instruments played with bows were not subject to import duties.

Perhaps it was GST and not import duty.

No clue. Tax law is ridiculously complicated. All I know for sure is that two Canadians bought instruments from me in NY and neither paid a dime in import duty.

    Derailing the derail, nice bass!

Correct, I had to pay GST but no additional duty.

What currency was the $1500 tax at the border in, US$ or Canadian$? Just wondered.

In Canada, we pay GST on the price in Canadian dollars. Any cost for shipping/freight is left out of the calculation as its not being imported, only the goods.

Would be interested in a trade up? I have my Gorman for sale and I'm looking for a trade down.

I had an inquiry about the colour of the finish. It is more of a golden tint, and not as red as the photos in the first post may indicate. Here's a photo in natural light:

Bump. I will be moving to New York City at the end of August, and likely taking this bass with me if it doesn't sell before then. This is a great bass that is rarely seen north of the border!

If you do come to Minneapolis I would be interested in seeing it.
