I've decided to put a set of Nordstrand pickups in my "70's" MIM J-bass. I currently have a set of USA FenderJazz pickups in the bass. They work great and have been among my main gigging pickups since I bought them in 2010. I'm not sure what year they are. They are in fantastic shape cosmetically. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Since I can't buy the Nordy's until I sell this set, I'm going to leave them in the bass until they sell. If I can't get the price I want, then I will pass on the Nordys, which are generously being held for me until Feb. 17 by a wonderful TB brother.

$50 shipped for my USA set.

Sorry Nate, for some reason I did not get notification of your question. Weird, since I am subscribed to the thread... Anyway, the answer to your question is no, they are not active. They were pulled from a USA Standard Jazz bass.

These would work well, your bass has passive pickups and an active preamp.

Oh, Nate and others should keep in mind that pre-2002 or therabouts, the MIM J-basses used pickups that were equal in dimension. My pups are of the type that feature a longer bridge pup, which is standard on MIM now and has been for some time (maybe forever?) on USA models. So make sure to measure your pup dimensions before looking for a new set.
