This is the rare, legendary Raven Labs PHA-1 all-battery preamp designed and built by Steve Rabe, founder of SWR. It has a remarkably clean, clear tone and can be used as a full-fledged preamp or practice amp with headphones, no power cord required. This unit runs off 2 9v batteries only.

I am the original owner of this preamp, which is S/N 0048 (really!) and is in overall good shape. A few years ago I cleaned some slight oxidation from the battery contacts, but it has not returned and did not impact the performance of the preamp whatsoever, then or now. I'm including a 1/8" headphone adapter with the preamp.

    $210 shipped CONUS

Thanks Art - appreciate that! I wish Steve was still going with Raven - he was really developing an excellent portfolio of products when he decided to pack up and call it a day.

It's true the stuff is pretty unique and getting harder and harder to come by. I've got a Raven Labs PMB that I probably should put in the hands of someone who'll use it more regularly than I do but I just can't bring myself to part with it. If needed another headphone amp I'd be on this one in a new york minute.

Bump from another long-time happy PHA-1 owner. Really great, multipurpose unit. Lately been getting some extra use as a straight-up audio headphone amp. Makes my portable devices' mp3s sound great through Grado cans.
