I have created a new thread for this bass to pool together all the information I have on it. I bought it from the original owner who says it's a 1980 4-bolt Musicman stingray with epoxy 2 band preamp, as he says, it's all original. I've heard that Musicman stopped using the epoxy preamp in 197X, and stopped using the 3 bolt neck in 198X, and started putting the registered TM logo in 198X, but the more I read into these instruments, the more vague it seems to get. http://www.musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0011.htm Has some good information on the attributes of each serial numbered instrument- some have dated bodies and necks, some don't. The actual manufacture date of each specific instrument doesn't seem to match exactly with a serial number, as you can see the dates from serial #B015760 to #B025511 are a little all over the place. You can decide what year it is for yourself, but it's my understanding the bass was made in 1980.

This one also has the rare 'corderoy' white+leather+orange OHSC included! Huge, fat finger funk sounds, or bright and snappy for your favorite classic flea tones- the choice is yours...

At one point, a previous owner drilled a hole for strap button on the bottom horn, and added dot markers on the underside of the neck, but I don't find it affects playability at all. It also has 2 dime-sized dings along the bottom of the body- the finish is gone on these two spots, but I don't see an indent in the wood really. Aside from this, these is the typical wear and tear you find on a 30 year old instrument.

There's been some questions regarding the preamp, so here's a picture. I understand this epoxy preamp is a little late to the party... maybe old stock they decided to put in to a bass in 1980? I guess we'll never know...

Please excuse my horrible playing and terrible cell phone quality.

maybe a super longshot, but any interest in a trade for my Sage 5er?

Was originally hoping to trade for one of the new Stingray Classics, but why not go for the real deal!

Very cool bass, but I have to stick to my commitment for some cash, so I'm only really into trades if they net me $1000. Thanks very much though dude!

Wow...those are some serious dings for a vintage bass. Even looks like someone tried to make it a lefty!?
