NOTE: These pics were taken when the weather was nicer, but the bass is still in great shape.

You know how some basses were made when certain companies were at the top of their game? Well, if you don't know, this is one of those instruments...

1995 Warwick Fortress One 5 string

Warwick is all about wood and this bass is the embodiment of that. A FULL wenge neck, which yields that signature tone and feel. A bookmatched flamed maple body, which actually wasn't the usual spec (these were usually a 3-piece body).
Add that to the fact that it's only 9.5 lbs and that makes this one sweet piece.

The extreme bridge and bell-brass alloy frets make for an amazingly secure, sturdy, resonant experience. The notes just sing! Oh yeah, the nut... BRASS and ADJUSTABLE. This was some engineering to the extreme for solid tone.

The controls are relatively simple... volume, blend, treble, and bass. But the volume knob can be pulled to bypass the preamp. On this particular bass, the pickups are MEC Gold, which makes them active anyway. I always thought they were active/passive, but not here.
The volume pot/switch has been replaced with a Bournes and it works and feels better than the original. There's a little bit of crackle in the bass pot, but it is 18 years old, so that happens.

Last but not least, the truss rod. On these, they are replaceable with ease. But don't worry, you won't have to do that any time soon... this one has a brand new truss rod in it.
The action on this bass can be set stupid low.

She has signs of being played for years and a relatively thin finish. There are some scratches and dings, but nothing major. If you are looking for a showroom piece, this may not be for you... but if you play it, you'll know why it was played and loved for so long.

Comes with a functional hardshell case, though not original.
    Weighs 9.5 lbs.
Bridge spacing is 17mm and slightly adjustable.
Requires DUNLOP STRAP LOCKS (sorry, I don't have an extra set).

SOLD!!!! $800 shipped to east of the Mississippi, add $25 for west of it.

Bump from a proud owner of many Warwicks. I especially love my Fortresses. They are far and away my favorite model.

I will also say that Rojo is probably the best guy on TB so you will no doubt have a smooth transaction should you choose to move forth on this fine piece of wood.

Last time I looked this hard at a Fortress on TB I bought it (also my favorite Warwick model). Somebody stop me, the Christmas credit card bills aren't even in yet.

    I can't.... No, really, I can't...

I do want it...my mind is feverishly working out a plot to get it. I must stop short of a fire sale of any current gear which I enjoy too much to let go.

I may have to drop by to play it again...and discuss a possible payment plan. I think we once did a deal for sandwiches, didn't we?
