I have concluded my relationship with fretless basses. I must say, this Zon has to be my all time favorite though.
Composite thin neck and gorgeous fretboard. Neck is similar in feel to a Modulus, but I believe a nicer feeling and looking fretboard. Really low action, Bartolini Electronics and lush fretless tones.
In exceptionally good condition. Lightweight at 7.8 lbs (bathroom scales). Year, I believe, is a 1997 (# 9703647). No truss rod because it doesn't need it and it was a sturdy neck and they could save weight. This neck won't move no matter what environment or climate. Really beautiful wood and finish. I'm uncertain whether the beautiful top wood is Bubinga or ?. No rash or dings/scratches on front, back, sides or headstock. One very small area on the treble side of the fretboard in the upper registers. It's very narrow, almost like a scrape on the finish. Non issue.

FS: [DEL]$1600 obo[/DEL], shipped Cont. USA. Ok, to help motivate someone I am $1550 INCLUDING a HARD SHELL CASE
or $1500 w/heavy duty gigabg shipped
FT: Sorry, no longer interested in trades, I just bought my fiver.

    What a beauty!

Just a couple observations... Yes, bubinga top. The bridge is a Wilkenson and not the current Zon bridge, but who cares. This bass rules.

Do you, by chance, have any sound clips? I'm thinking seriously about letting my Pentabuzz go and switching to a Zon and I'm debating between a Sonus and a Legacy (I prefer the Legacy body shape) and I'm curious about the tonal differences.

Regardless, GLWTS, that's a beautiful bass!

Hi, I don't have any clips, but may be able to capture some tonight. What particularly would you like me to focus on? Thx

That would be great! Ideally, I'd love to hear it played at the neck pick up and the bridge pick up, and maybe a pass or two with different tone settings, but anything you can share would be wonderful.

No. Not the original owner, but it is super clean so whoever had it doesn't seem to have played it very much and/or took extremely good care of it.

This is a beauty! Love the grain of that bubinga. Just a heads up, this is a Sonus Special, not a Sonus Custom (which would have soapbar/DC pickups and a traditional neck pickup location). IMO this one of the best Fretless basses on the planet

I truly believe Zon makes one of the most amazing fretless basses. The thin neck feels great in your hand and is very responsive even with a very light touch.
