I will probably regret this, but up for sale is my '64 Custom Shop Jazz Bass. This is a beautiful bass, and comes with the case and all the case candy. It was my regular gigging bass for about a year, and I am only selling to help pay for the original '66 I bought late last year.
It is in really good condition. I just had it set up by my local tech, and he thought it was flawless. The neck is perfect, quartersawn maple without a mark on it. Plays just like the day I bought it. Fit and finish is as good as any I've seen. There are a few marks in the finish on the body, one on the upper end where your right arm rests, and there is some light wear in the finish wear near the bridge pickup from playing with my fingers. The back looks very good with a couple of light marks in the finish - could probably be buffed out if someone was so inclined. They won't show up in photos.
How does it sound? Like a '64 should. In a blind test with my vintage '66 and '69 basses it would be very hard to tell them apart. Does the Jaco thing really well when digging in to the bridge pickup. If you are looking for a vintage Jazz this is a great option for a lot less money, and only a bit more than a used American Vintage Reissue. I have compared the two, and IMO the Custom Shop is a better bass.

Before anyone asks, weight is 9 1/2 lbs on my digital bathroom scale. It is the only scale I have but this feels right.

This is a great sounding and playing jazz bass. It has a super comfortable neck profile and feel. Get yourself a New Old Stock 1964 Custom Shop Jazz Bass and play it to make your own relic!
