O.k., I like the natural FSR, but can't say much for having the same instrument as everyone else out there (I'm sure GC is selling a ton of these). I like unique instruments, it's just the way I am.

So wondering how to make this a bit unique without breaking the bank, I mocked up what it would look like with block inlays (decals).

Thoughts? Like? Ugly? Throw it out there....

    Not ugly at all:

it's just that, if you find a Classic '70s neck to swap in (better than mere decals, so that you'll have ivory bound too), you better IMHO, think about a three ply black/white/black guard in place of tort... just like on an AVRI '74 Jazz, d'you got it?

    Cheers,

Yeah a neck swap with a classic 70s jazz would be a cool idea! But keep the tort!! Good luck!

  5. I have block stickers on my FSR. Rather have the real thing but not a bad substitute.

Well, so much for unique. :)

I guess looking like someone else out there isn't totally bad. :D

Thanks for the input, I've got a set of decals coming for my current bass to practice application on...hopefully I'll have the process down before going live on a more expensive bass.

The neck idea sounds good, but it also sounds like it'd cost as much as the whole bass. I'm sure those necks aren't cheap nor plentiful.

The tort is staying, it's a fav of my g/f. She's my style consultant. :)
