i just picked this up, but after much debate, im probably not going to use much. ive been playing 100% 4 string lately and i just sold my atk 5 string for the same reason. i bought it because of the origin of the body. its a mij fernandes 5 string which barely ever come up used. the bridge is a high end gotoh 18mm bridge which came stock on that bass. my sunburst fernandes jazz 5 was the bass that made my sell my fodera emperor elite. i pulled the neck and the wood has the color and mineral streaks of alder.

that body with the warmoth maple board neck is a killer combo. whereas my other 5 sounds more vintage, this neck makes it sound more modern and percussive like the mike lull and hotwire 5 string jazzes ive owned. super rigid and straight. theres some wear/dings in spots which is pictured. theres an odd tiny hole on the back that looks like an accidental drill through? the string retainer has also been relocated some theres 2 extra holes. the electronics look like the harness pulled from a fender. american cts pots with the small cap fender uses.

weight is 10.8 on the bathroom scale. the extra weight has got to be in the neck because the two other stock fernandes 5's ive had have been under 10. 34" scale

ideally im looking to trade this (and most likely some cash) for a mim 50's classic P in any color other than fiesta red. maybe someone out there that needs a 5 and has an extra 4? other P basses would interest me as well. parts basses? (allparts/warmoth or whatever)

a couple of other random things i need are an emminence deltalite2 10 inch speaker and a sansamp.

What is the neck finish? Is it a satin or gloss?

Hey Joe…a bit too heavy for me. I'm sure the extra weight adds to the tone, but my body cares less about tone after 2 hours on a gig!

May be just the picture angles here but the B and G strings seem close to the edge of the fretboard. How does this bass play?

plays great. it feels about the same as a mike lull 5string in terms of string closeness to the edge of the board. theres no issues with string pull off at all.

it plays great. if you want a boutique, lay the strings on the board setup, it needs some fretwork at the heel like most fenders. id be happy to get that done as part of a deal if wanted. its still great as is right now though!

Can you post a body pic without the front pickup cover, and a close-up pic of front of the headstock please?
