Hey, I have just started getting into bass, and I have a question regarding bass fuzz and amp settings. I play a jazz bass-style instrument into an Ampeg B100r. My question is regarding how to set the amp before I run fuzz into it. With guitar I'm used to playing a tube amp, and setting it for a little bit of breakup before turning on the fuzz. Should I do the same thing with my solid state bass amp, or is it better to leave the amp clean?

IMO solid state breakup is an undesirable sound. I set my solid state amps to be as clear as possible with the gain rarely above 9oclock. I play a passive jazz V and use a SA OFD, and use the eq in the box to get the most from my fuzz tones.
