I'm not sure exactly on all your questions as they are built by Gamma basses. It has passive pickups, that's for sure, but I don't know exactly what kind of wood. Joe is on Facebook (Gamma basses) and it will give you the complete breakdown if the bass. Thanks.

Looks like the board is rosewood/maple and I can tell you the pickups cut through as good or better then a Fender J. It plays beautifully as well.

If you are considering this bass, all I can say is that I love mine. I have a Jazz with maple/maple neck and the "top secret" super boomer passive pups. Joe does a great job and I've never heard anyone who doesn't love their GAMMA bass. There are a couple of youtube videos that are a very good representation of what these basses sound like. If you're on the fence, "JUMP!"
