  1. Looking at a 94 to 95 GL Sunburst bass for $520.00 cdn. Looks in good shape, but I have to get it shipped across the country from Newfoundland to Alberta.

I am not concerned about the shipping, but was wondering if this is a decent price for one of these of this age?

Yeah it is. Most used GLs from that era CIJ/MIJ run about 550-750 here in the states. If its in good shape and has no issues I'd go for it.

The geddy lee sig came out in 1998 & the sunburst model came in 2009. 94/95 seems a little weird since there was no sig then.

  6. I am pretty sure those early years of Geddy Basses were Black only...the Sunburst version is a relatively new offering..

    +1 something seems odd

  8. Here is a pic and I did notice that the finish seems a little darker than a SB Geddy. So are you thinking it might be a Geddy neck on a 60's JAzz body or something?

Assuming it's a "Crafted in Japan" model, the SN puts it at 2007-2008. "Made in Japan" puts it from 2007-2010.

    From Fender:
In 1997, Fender transitioned to a serial number decal that included the words “Crafted in Japan” above the serial number.

    Crafted in Japan A + 6 digits 1997-1998
    Crafted in Japan O + 6 digits 1997-2000
    Crafted in Japan P + 6 digits 1999-2002
    Crafted in Japan Q + 6 digits 2002-2004
    Crafted in Japan R + 6 digits 2004-2005
    Crafted in Japan S + 6 digits 2006-2008
    Crafted in Japan T + 6 digits 2007-2008

2007 was another transitional year for Japanese-made Fender instruments, with the return to the “Made in Japan” country-of-origin identifier on the serial number decal. This was a running change, and both “Made in Japan” and “Crafted in Japan” decals appear on instruments from 2007 and 2008.

    Made in Japan T + 6 digits 2007-2010
    Made in Japan U + 6 digits 2010-2011

Note: A new Japanese vendor was enlisted in 2010 to help meet demand for the Geddy Lee and Marcus Miller Jazz Bass models. These two basses and the other instruments listed below that were supplied by this factory continued to use “Made in Japan T + 6 digits” designation through 2011:

  10. Funny, my GL has a B +6 digits and is crafted in Japan what year would that make it?

Can't see Long and McQuade selling a fake Geddy. Photo quality is terrible. If the bass checks out, that price is very fair.

Have them send a pic of the neck pocket. They all have GL stamped there. You'll know if the body is genuine

  14. Agree that L+M wouldn't knowingly sell a fake. It must be a newer model from after the 'bursts came out.

Were there MIJ/CIJ bursts available here or did the bursts come out when they became MIM?

  15. Well it don't matter now. Someone else bought it.
