    Hi everyone !
I'm a big Gene Simmons Spector '77 fan
but the #2 Spector is very unique and i would love to
find more about it, This one is hardly commented,
it has never been auctioned and was last seen in the Rise to It video.

Looked a lot like the BCRich Eagle bass but it's a Spector:

I'm way late, but here goes: it's actually the #1 (having been finished first) thought the straight-horned #2 was used more early on. It's a neck-through, maple neck; I've read the wings could be maple, could be alder. The pickup is a Model One. What else did you want to know?

Sill doubtful around the ModelOne opinion...

I mean: all we see is a (guitar like) squared pickup ring around it, yet in that position I tend to think to a somewhat EMG MM style pickup

    Just my €. 0,02

    Cheers,
    Wallace

Guys, thanks on your opinion, it's not the model #1
Model # 1 is not pictured here.
We believe he had two model #1's and this is the Second model
Is this a custom one-off or maybe a known body style?

I don't know but I like alot! Looks like a B.C. Rich Eagle in the horns. Very cool, wish Spector was making something like this still. It would cure my biggest problem with Spectors, love the neck, dig the tone, hate the body style.

It's what Gene refers to as the #1 because he received it first. I had at least two or three magazines on bass gear in which he states this. Stu Spector also says this. It, and the other one, were simply modified Spector SB-1 basses. It is indeed neck-through, and the pickup has been verified as a Model One. It was later replaced with an EMG 35-style. In the other bass, the original pup was replaced with a p pickup (forget which one).

There's a lot of silly speculation on the net that he had three basses, and that this was some kind of secret. First off, why would that be a secret? Second, it's been stated very publicly and many times by both Simmons and Spector that there were two. Gene was famous for modding his basses and did that on both of these. Hell, it's been estimated that there were SEVEN iterations of his Lobue bass.

You can actually find a ton of pics and info on the excellent Talkbass thread that has "Gene $immons" in the title. Google it (gotta use the dollar sign), grab a pizza and some beer (LONG thread), and enjoy.

Wonder if we could convince Spector to make a limited run of those?

Yes, Gene got the idea and he will be launching this now:
    - Clear Punisher (Yes clear !!!)
    - Studded Punisher (As he studded his #1 Spector)
    - Relic/Road Worn Punisher with studs and beaten-up (i like this)
They will be at NAMM 2013 .

Yes would be cool if Spector re-release them.

    BTW :

Mournblade: Yes i agree,it looks a lot like the Eagle
Teacher: He had more than one of the #1 spectors, you can check
differences on the lower horn, one has a curve and the other is straight
the straight horn was the one auctioned.

I think you've misunderstood. The curved is the #1 and the straight is the #2. That's it. Those are the ONLY two Spector basses Gene Simmons has ever played. He received them at almost the same time. This is pretty easily verifiable by looking for online mag interviews with Gene. I've been a huge KISS fan and collector since the early 80's, know many people in the fan and collector community, and this isn't even debated. It's pretty standard knowledge.

On stage yes. But in the Tears are Falling video there was a red NS2. Who Wants to Be Lonely and Forever video there was the white NS2J which I think was auctioned off.
