I bought my first bass used a few weeks ago. The strings are very worn and my wife bought me some new ones for Christmas. Should I try restringing my bass myself? I've watched several videos but I've never done it myself. Or should I take it to a guitar repair store?

I would try and learn to do them myself. It's really not hard. I think watching more videos and reading up on it until your confident will help a lot. If not go to a tech and have him teach you how to do it.
